🔧 Why the GLS W167/X167 needs special all-season wheel and tire packages

The GLS is one of the heaviest vehicles in its class. This results in special requirements:

1. Very high axle loads

All-season wheels must have:

• reinforced rims

• high load capacities

2. 4MATIC all-wheel drive requirements

The system requires:

• identical rolling circumferences

• strong traction on snow & ice

• perfectly matched tire profiles

3. Large braking systems

• precise offset (ET) for full brake clearance

• sufficient inner clearance with 20–22 inch rim options

4. 7-seater / Long version X167

• higher rear axle loads → specific load capacity approvals

Unsuitable wheels can lead to:

• brake contact

• instability on changing roads

• all-wheel drive malfunctions

• ABS/ESP warning messages

.
